The summer has begun here at Macon Library, with the start of STEAM Camp. A teach and art based camp, providing 6th-8th graders the opportunity to learn camera functions, 3D printing and storytelling. From 12-5 we encourage students to not only learn the basics of the equipment, but how they can use the equipment to create their own projects. In this week alone, the students have created picture frames, wrote about their summer adventures such as going to the pool and visiting relatives in the Caribbean.
Our day consist of STEAM exposure, morning stations, that gives the students a hands on opportunity to explore the equipment and learn some of the functions on there own. After lunch, which is provided by the library, we have a structured lesson which is taught by one of the facilitators. At STEAM we teach, 3D printing, photography, online publishing, writing, arts &crafts, and after all the hard-work, fun, and, learning the students are treated with Italian Ices.
We are full STEAM ahead here at Macon Library and are excited for what the students will learn and create over the course of the summer!
