Arts and Crafts & Sewing
Students of the Arts and Crafts class will continue to enhance their hand stitching techniques and sewing techniques. Each week, the students have been getting more and more comfortable with handling the needle and thread on their own. They have grasped the concept of each hand stitch that they have been introduced to. The students will apply what they have learned about basic, back and blanket hand stitching thus far in preparation for the quilt project. They have been working hard with finalizing the layout of the Laurelton Community quilt. The students are still selecting their job and community symbols to include on the quilt. Overall, I am very pleased with the students’ motivation towards completing the final exit project.
DIVAS (Digital Interactive Visual Arts Sciences) for Social Justice aims to bridge the digital divide by combining media literacy and cultural awareness along with a vast understanding of technology to encourage young women in under served communities to pursue careers in computer science and new media.
