Published, In More Ways than One

After publishing their first official article of the year on Laurelton.nyc, the eighth graders were satisfied and proud of their efforts. However, they were even more pleased when their field work and interviews around the neighborhood were noticed by Rodney D. Gantt, a reporter from the Press,  a newspaper for Southeastern Queens, featured them in an article of his own!

Gantt’s article chronicled their attempts to interview citizens of Laurelton and their influence and presence in the neighborhood through Divas for Social Justice and STEAM For Social Change. Just as the eighth graders got their feet in the door, they have received recognition on a larger scale, as well as wise words about the true mission of Divas through one of the founders, Ms. Clarisa James. The praise will only spur them to continue producing meaningful content, and their facilitator is very proud of them.
