Here at Macon we’ve been creating Africa inspired art and learning about notable African American artists.
On this day we created artwork based off of Notable Black Artists, here’s our student Nia creating her own version of Basquiat’s notable epitaph.
In the classes that followed we learned about West African Masks and created our own out of paper maché.
DIVAS (Digital Interactive Visual Arts Sciences) for Social Justice aims to bridge the digital divide by combining media literacy and cultural awareness along with a vast understanding of technology to encourage young women in under served communities to pursue careers in computer science and new media.
