My name is Aminah Dantzler and this year I will be instructing art classes for the STEAM program at the Linden SDA School. As a native to South Queens, I’m beyond excited to be working and creating with children from the Laurelton area.
I mainly create acrylic portraits of people of color using bright colors and uplifting and fun images. I strive to make positive self portraits that will inspire others and start thoughtful dialogue about art in our community. This years goal is to talk about ways to create social change through art and provide students with tools to create art in their own unique way.
DIVAS (Digital Interactive Visual Arts Sciences) for Social Justice aims to bridge the digital divide by combining media literacy and cultural awareness along with a vast understanding of technology to encourage young women in under served communities to pursue careers in computer science and new media.
