For the month of February, as a part of the art class, students will be building physical 3D models of their own unique cities. So far the students have been split into 4 groups and created city names, town concepts and decided what the most important facilities in their town will be.
This project will be a competition to see who builds and creates the best town judged by their peers, teachers, and DIVAS facilitators. The students are excited and are actively ready to be hands on starting next week.
DIVAS (Digital Interactive Visual Arts Sciences) for Social Justice aims to bridge the digital divide by combining media literacy and cultural awareness along with a vast understanding of technology to encourage young women in under served communities to pursue careers in computer science and new media.
