Arts and Crafts
In the Arts and Crafts class, students are beginning to create, decorate, and build their own personalized folder. Their folder will include the following:
At STEAM for Social Change, we believe that recycling in our school and our community is very important. I strongly believe in implementing this idea into the classroom by recycling all of the materials that we have. The left over paper that could be discarded will actually be reused for our collages and other colorful creative art work projects that the students will be working on.
It is essential that the students stay engaged and involved in their community. One of our many hopes for this program is to give the students the opportunity to use their creativity to paint murals and understand the concept of shapes, drawing and tracing techniques, color mixing and more. I believe that the program sets high standards for the students to help them succeed in their education and enhance their future.
Students are currently working on cutting and shaping their creations for our Easter Mural. Our next activity that the students will be working on is tracing their character of their choice (from the pictures that I provide) cutting them out and coloring them however they choose. With this exercise, students will be learning how to enhance their tracing, coloring, and cutting skills. My goal is for students to be creative and original when working on their murals and activities. Aside from working on the Easter Murals, the students will also be decorating the bulletin boards and cafeteria with the various art works that they have been working so hard on.
Future activities will include:
For the parents, we encourage you to support your children and help them set high expectations for themselves. My goal is to allow your children to think outside the box and be creative. I always encourage them to be original and to support each other’s art work. The Arts and Crafts class is a judgment-free zone which allows for students to become more confident in the artwork that they display throughout the school. The STEAM for Social Change program has implemented certain policies and procedures to ensure your child’s safety in the classroom. We encourage the Parents to help your children abide by these protocols. Together with your assistance, we can help improve your child’s confidence, academic success, and expectations for their future.
Sincerely,
