The sixth grade has made some progress with their storefront project. Their final project are the combined dioramas of a better Laurelton and Merrick Boulevard–both a visual and physical diorama. Since they are working on the physical diorama currently, utilizing Sketchup to design the pieces for the display, they’ve had to learn about scale and how to scale objects–in this case, buildings–down to be printable objects.
Recently, the students have been engaging in both team building as well as peer critiques on aesthetic appeal and practicality of each other’s designs. They’ve learned to work together to make great things as well as take criticism. Based on the critiques given to them by their classmates, the students learned to adjust their designs on Sketchup to come to a collaborative agreement.
