This month the youth have learned a great deal about their history including some new historical figures, that they had not previously known about, such as Ida B Wells .Ms. Wells was a trailblazer in her day (the late 1800’s) she was one of the first to sue the railroad for not allowing her to sit in the front ladies car. She was also the first to recognize lynching as a crime and denouncing the stereotypical reasoning behind it. The youth finished up Black History month watching the 13th documentary which follows the link between slavery and mass incarceration.
