For this month I wanted to focus more on female athletes. When I asked some of the students to name a few female athletes it was difficult for them. So we discussed why women are sometimes viewed as inferior to men especially in the sports world. As athletes and humans we have to support each other no matter the gender. We also went over a few female athletes that made history in both the men’s and women’s game. Students participated in relay and wheelbarrow races in which my female students won. Students also got the chance to learn about and play a mini game of netball.
DIVAS (Digital Interactive Visual Arts Sciences) for Social Justice aims to bridge the digital divide by combining media literacy and cultural awareness along with a vast understanding of technology to encourage young women in under served communities to pursue careers in computer science and new media.
