Now that the mural has been painted and the six-week collaboration with Rego Park Green Alliance has come to a close, the sixth grade class is back on track with their final project. Their aim is to explore what a community needs to remain stable, to thrive, and what brings business into the community while keeping residents happy and financially steady.
Through Google Sketchup, the students designed businesses and institutions that could do all of these things and make Laurelton’s “Main St.”, Merrick Boulevard, and potentially the whole city, a better place. They’ve completed 5 out of the 6 of their projected designs, and their diorama is back on track for completion as the school year comes to a close.
