Arts and Crafts
For the past few weeks, each student has been working on finalizing their Superhero drawings from the selection that I have provided for them. The students have chosen 5 of their favorite Superhero characters that reflect their personality and have used colored pencils, crayons, markers, glitter, and other materials to decorate each Superhero drawing. Students will now begin designing Superhero costumes for their drawings which will make these illustrations very unique and personalized. This activity has also introduced some friendly competition between the 6th, 7th and 8th graders. For the Superhero competition, the STEAM team and I will vote for our top favorite Superhero drawings from the students. Towards the end of the activity, student will be able to watch a selection of animated Superhero movies such as Batman, Spiderman and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This activity has been very successful and has helped students explore their creativity to another level.
As this Superhero project comes to a close, students will start thinking of ideas for the Summer Splash Mural. The Arts and Crafts students will be tracing their silhouettes and adding props such as balloons, flowers and other summer themed props. The students have been working very hard on these projects and I know that they will exceed my expectations for our next Arts and Crafts activity.
