The Arts and Crafts students as well as the STEAM staff were very pleased with the presentation a few weeks ago that showcased the first draft of the layout of the Community Quilt. The presentation was a great success and I was very excited to demonstrate how much progress that my students have made. Some students were able to show off their sewing skills by using the sewing machine and completing certain stitches with fabric, needle and thread. I also created a project board highlighting the dedicated students and what they have accomplished so far. I am very pleased with how the Laurelton Community Quilt is coming along. All of the students are becoming more committed each week. They have been working very hard towards completing and perfecting their first job symbol for the community quilt.
In lieu of celebrating Valentine’s Day, the students were creating personalized Valentine’s Day cards. They were using various arts and crafts materials including heart stencils that I pre-cut for the students using construction paper. The students were overall very excited to showcase their Valentine’s Day cards to share with their loved ones. Their final product will be included in their portfolio.
