To ring in 2018, the 3D printing students began working on their first project of the year. The project consisted of designing and modeling three charms that best show who each student is as an individual. Students were asked think about a variety of qualities, behaviors, and characteristics that illustrate what makes them stand out as unique individuals. Using those qualities along with past experiences, students designed three charms and began modeling them using Google SketchUp. As each student completed a charm, they were 3D printed using the MakerBot Replicator 2.
DIVAS (Digital Interactive Visual Arts Sciences) for Social Justice aims to bridge the digital divide by combining media literacy and cultural awareness along with a vast understanding of technology to encourage young women in under served communities to pursue careers in computer science and new media.
