The eighth graders have finally taken their big leap into their 2016-17 community journalism project–the biggest part being their collective media portfolio. They plan to assemble a plethora of profiles of both homeowners/residents in Laurelton and business owners, coming up with a “Faces of Laurelton” segment for their portfolios.
On January 18th, 2017, the eighth grade class went on their first hunt for potential interview candidates. News Team A hit the back streets of Laurelton, accompanied by their community journalism facilitator, yours truly. The eighth graders had the privilege of being able to interview four welcoming homeowners in total, all of whom had different takes on the things that could be improved in Laurelton and Laurelton’s best attributes. The young community journalists, eagerly recording and taking note, are excited to continue developing this project.
