For the past two weeks the BSMART News Crew has been busy in the news room brainstorming news stories, researching information and prepping for their first news broadcast.
The students have been learning about the elements of creating a successful news story and running a news room. As an educator, it has been very inspiring to watch their creative process. I provide them with the tools and watch their minds fire away with ideas. For the students, they are gaining an appreciate for the creative process behind television while creating a platform to express their views on current events.
Overall, I look forward to see their continued growth as they move throughout the school year.
DIVAS (Digital Interactive Visual Arts Sciences) for Social Justice aims to bridge the digital divide by combining media literacy and cultural awareness along with a vast understanding of technology to encourage young women in under served communities to pursue careers in computer science and new media.
