The students went out and planted daffodils and cleaned up the community. This is their personal account of there experience helping the community:
Operation Clean Up was very good for the environment, because I helped the community. I loved working with the rest of my STEAM classmates to help cleanup the weeds on 225th Street. It really helped the soil become fertile for the plants we planted there. -Kyle Johnson
Operation Clean Up was a little project we did to help the environment. I think the people who live there will be very grateful for what we did. The lesson I learned there was that you need to live in a clean neighborhood. -Madalin Clarke
DIVAS (Digital Interactive Visual Arts Sciences) for Social Justice aims to bridge the digital divide by combining media literacy and cultural awareness along with a vast understanding of technology to encourage young women in under served communities to pursue careers in computer science and new media.
