As the Linden SDA School contemplates redesigning and constructing a new gym on their facility, the 7th grade 3D printing class plans to use this as an opportunity to hone their designing skills on the Sketchup application.
Their plan for this is to compile a list of ideas–from new padding on the walls to more basketball hoops–that they believe would make their physical education experience more enjoyable, things that they believe the new school gym would reall need.
After finalizing this list, the 7th graders pair up and will design their individual ideas, creating a floor plan that ciould be presented to both the Parent Teacher/ Home and School Association at Linden and the Laurelton Community Board to raise money to create this.
The 7th graders hope to complete their project together with teamwork, creativity, and perseverance with prospects of a brand new gym that they had a say in, the greatest reward of all.
DIVAS (Digital Interactive Visual Arts Sciences) for Social Justice aims to bridge the digital divide by combining media literacy and cultural awareness along with a vast understanding of technology to encourage young women in under served communities to pursue careers in computer science and new media.
