Last week, the students at Jamaica SDA had a chance to experiment with harnessing the power of energy to create tiny dancing figurines. Using simple items such as a copper wire, an AA battery, and a few neodymium magnets, the students created their very own homopolar motors. Through this project, students were able to learn a little about electricity and electromagnetism.
DIVAS (Digital Interactive Visual Arts Sciences) for Social Justice aims to bridge the digital divide by combining media literacy and cultural awareness along with a vast understanding of technology to encourage young women in under served communities to pursue careers in computer science and new media.
