At some point, the student must become the teacher. With this in mind, the students’ objective was to model a toy car all by themselves by following directions on a worksheet. This was a difficult task in the beginning as the students had no experience creating such complex designs by themselves. With a little guidance and encouragement, they went on their way to completing their first solo project.

DIVAS (Digital Interactive Visual Arts Sciences) for Social Justice aims to bridge the digital divide by combining media literacy and cultural awareness along with a vast understanding of technology to encourage young women in under served communities to pursue careers in computer science and new media.
