Last week, my STEAM students learned about screenwriting. We studied scripts from all of the Disney movies we love. We analyzed and learned tricks to create our own masterpieces.
As an educator and a writer, it has been very inspiring to watch their creative process as the students have been able to create. I provide them with the formatting tools and watched their creativity as they create their stories. My students are becoming visual learner. They are are able to express their views on current events using stories.
DIVAS (Digital Interactive Visual Arts Sciences) for Social Justice aims to bridge the digital divide by combining media literacy and cultural awareness along with a vast understanding of technology to encourage young women in under served communities to pursue careers in computer science and new media.
