Last month the students and I participated in a Black History Month Presentation at Restoration. We had one week to prep and come up with some questions dealing with technology and how the community uses technology in their everyday lives.
While there, we decided it was a great idea to do a live recording episode of the podcast right at the event. The students talked about what was going on around them while also actively participating in some of the events going on such as, face paint and our very own virtual reality table.
DIVAS (Digital Interactive Visual Arts Sciences) for Social Justice aims to bridge the digital divide by combining media literacy and cultural awareness along with a vast understanding of technology to encourage young women in under served communities to pursue careers in computer science and new media.
