So, we used red cabbage as an indicator, to test different pH levels in a few liquids, such as… Salt water, lemon aide, lemon juice, baking soda water, detergent, and plain water.
The results were astounding!! The young scientists were amazed by how juice from a red cabbage, when placed into different liquids, could show the level of pH by changing color! Here are a few of our testing strips. Notice the various colors on the strips.
{Hot Pink}=ACID
{Lavender, purple, and Violet}=NEUTRAL
{Green, Lime green }=NEUTRAL
{Yellow}=BASE
