The 6th grade students finished up their Amate Bark Paintings which were done to celebrate the contributions of indigenous art forms from Mexico (please revisit post from 10/16/17 for the initial phase of this project). After discovering the history and the art making process of authentic Amate Bark Paintings, the students created their own using brown paper bags and paint. Great job sixth graders! The best is yet to come!
DIVAS (Digital Interactive Visual Arts Sciences) for Social Justice aims to bridge the digital divide by combining media literacy and cultural awareness along with a vast understanding of technology to encourage young women in under served communities to pursue careers in computer science and new media.
